You can take on the 100 MILE CHALLENGE challenge whether this is spread across the 40 days, across a week, or on one day, its totally up to you. Alternately, you can design your own challenge, completing a goal in your preferred activity. See our Challenge Library page for ideas.

We encourage everyone to start their challenge on the 1st of September and culminate on World Homeless Day on the 10th of October, however this is a personal challenge so you can start/finish your challenge whenever suits you best.

For example, you can run or walk 100 miles throughout September, leading up to World Homeless Day on the 10th of October. This year we are asking you to break the cycle of homelessness your way – this means there is no in-person event, but you can take part in the campaign and raise money for Social Bite in your own preferred way.

You can complete the 100 miles in whatever way you wish. We suggest walking, running, or cycling – but you’re free to choose whichever activity you wish. From the 1st of September to the 10th of October this is roughly 2.5 miles a day.

If you’d prefer to take on the challenge all on one day – you can. If you would prefer to cover the distance in another way like swimming or skipping you absolutely can! 100 miles may seem daunting, but you’ll be working towards your goal from the 1st of September all the way to World Homeless Day on the 10th of October. This works our to around 2.5 miles a day, or 17.5 miles a week.

The average person walks between 2-3 miles a day so the miles can rack up quickly without you noticing!

Yes, you can sign up for the 100 MILE CHALLENGE as either an individual or as a team. When you register here you will be given the option to register as individual or create/join a team. When you create a team, each team member will have their own fundraising page, as well as there also being a team fundraising page.

Yes absolutely – we welcome everyone to take part! Wheelchair users can complete the 100 MILE CHALLENGE or design their own  challenge to break the cycle of homelessness.

No, don’t worry, we trust you! You don’t need to provide any evidence that you completed your challenge to us. But we do suggest that you share your success with your friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who has supported you, by updating your fundraising page. Keeping them posted with progress updates, photos, and how you’re getting on is a great way to keep them and yourself engaged with the challenge.

No problem at all! You have joined the movement to end homelessness and your fundraising efforts will continue to help Social Bite break the cycle of homelessness across the UK.

It can be hard to take on a challenge like this so as long as you have challenged yourself and tried to complete as much as you could then you should be incredibly proud for taking the challenge on!

When you register and create a team, this will create your own individual fundraising page, as well as a linked team fundraising page. Each new team member who completes the registration will receive their own fundraising page which is also linked to the team page.

All fundraising through these linked pages will show on the team fundraising page total (ie. The cumulative fundraising for ALL of your team).
You can also share your team fundraising page directly for anyone who might wish to donate to the team in general rather than to an individual team member specifically.

When you register, a fundraising page is set up for you automatically. You should receive an email titled ‘Your Fundraising Page is Ready’ which includes a link to you page. If you have any issues accessing or finding your page reach out to our team at 100milechallenge@social-bite.co.uk and we can send you the link for your page.

No, this event is completely free to sign up for! We ask for that participants taking part fundraise for Social Bite to help break the cycle of homelessness.

No, there is no age requirement to take on the 100 MILE CHALLENGE. We do ask that all participants under the age of 16 ask a parent or guardian to complete their registration on their behalf.

There is no minimum amount of fundraising for this challenge. We recommend that participants set a fundraising target of at least £100 (per person for teams). This could provide up to 20 meals for someone experiencing homelessness.

We have a fundraising guide here, which is full of tips and advice on how to maximise your fundraising. If you opted in to receiving emails from us about the 100 MILE CHALLENGE when registering, we will also send you fundraising tips via email throughout your challenge to help you along the way. If you raise £100 (per person for teams) we will send you a free Social Bite T shirt in the post. You can wear this to take on your challenge or as a memento for taking part.

Sending out T-shirts come at a cost to Social Bite and our mission to end homelessness so we can only send one T-shirt out when you raise £100 on your fundraising page. For teams we could only send out T shirts for £100 of fundraising per person. (eg. If a team of 5 raises £500 we will send out x5 T shirts). T-shirts will be posted within 5 working days of passing £100 on your fundraising page. If you haven’t received your T-Shirt within 10 working days of passing £100 on your fundraising page, please get in touch with us at 100milechallenge@social-bite.co.uk

Yes you can. We encourage all participants to fundraise through their automatically created fundraising page, however we know that some people prefer to fundraise offline. You can download a 100 MILE CHALLENGE sponsorship form here.

Once you have completed your fundraising you can submit it via our paying in form.

The 100 MILE CHALLENGE is a fundraising campaign created by Social Bite, so all fundraising must go directly to Social Bite. It is not possible to fundraise for another charity through this campaign.

Yes, if you wish to! We are encouraging all participants to have their challenge culminate on World Homeless Day on the 10th of October, but your fundraising page will stay open after this date if you want to continue your challenge and continue fundraising.

Gift Aid is a tax relief allowing UK charities to reclaim an extra 25% on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. This means Social Bite can claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated, without it costing you or your sponsors an extra penny.

When donating to your fundraising page your supporter will be given the option to tick that their donation is eligible for gift aid.

No, if you are fundraising through the fundraising page that was set up when you registered, these donations come through to us directly. You don’t need to send these on to us manually.

We ask all participants to use the fundraising page that was created for them when registering. This ensures that we can accurately record the campaign fundraising total, and your own total. If you do use another website we would recommend JustGiving. If you are using JustGiving please let us know at 100milechallenge@social-bite.co.uk that you have set up a JustGiving page.

There are lots of ways you can track your miles. Your smartphone will have plenty of free pedometer apps you can use.

You can also connect Strava to your online fundraising page. Instructions on how to do this here. This means you can automatically add your activity to your online fundraising page. Don’t worry if you don’t have Strava, you can download the app for free!
