A painting made from the heart: ‘A Reason to Love’
One of Jafri’s greatest works to date, A Reason to Love was created for the Gleneagles Gala in aid of Social Bite. Known for creating bold, human-centred pieces that bring people together, Sacha poured so much into making this one feel truly personal to our story. The 2.5m high painting uses every inch of the canvas to celebrate the goodness of humanity and the power of leading with love, compassion and empathy. We love how the painting includes nods to Social Bite’s houses from the original village in Granton, alongside other key moments from our journey.
What this gift means for our work (and why every donation matters)
Sacha Jafri’s work is shown and collected around the world, which means auctioning it off helped raised significant funds for the movement to end homelessness. The money raised through the auction of A Reason to Love will help us grow the reach of our life-changing projects across the UK, supporting more people affected by homelessness, sooner.
At the same time, this moment sits on top of the steady, brilliant support we receive all year round. From monthly givers to everyone who buys someone a Christmas dinner, the people paying it forward in our coffee shops to the folk taking on challenge events, and so many other acts of kindness, it’s the donations of all our supporters that make our work possible. This is a movement, and we’re so grateful to each and every one of you for being part of it.
Thank you
We’re incredibly grateful to Sacha for this extraordinary gift, and to everyone who supports Social Bite in big and small ways. Thanks to you, we can keep showing up, keep building momentum, and keep supporting people to leave homelessness behind for good. We can’t wait to share what this helps make possible next.
